Presidents Report
No formal Presidents report was provided.
Membership Report
135 members as of last week’s executive meeting.
Treasurer Report
Brian Jarvis was not present for the meeting so no full treasurer report was provided. We did have a SoloSprint event this weekend past which may have lost a small amount of money.
Debbie Miller believes that we are up to date with the 50% advance membership payments to ARMS.
Race Report
The double weekend event in July lost $1500 with reduced entries. The entry fees for the double weekend in August will have to increase to cover losses. Discussion about pre-registration cutoffs took place. The race committee will be discussing this on the next group call.
The posting of race results was discussed and the fact that they’re not easy to find on the ARMS site due to the way they are being posted. Debbie received some feedback and will bring this up with the ARMS Webmasters and race committee.
The August race will have entertainment on Saturday night and a potluck.
Various discussions regarding promotional and motivational activities around racing took place.
Rally Report
The 3rd regional rally of the calendar was the Musquodobit Measures of Madness rally, held this past Saturday organized by BAC and Perry Falconer/Sherrie Hennigar. It was attended by 8 teams with another 0 point tie between Ian Pearce/Maria Driscoll and Daphne Sleigh/Brian Jarvis for Experienced. Jeremy Roberts and Donna Beattie took their first Novice win.
The next and last Regional Navigational Rally will be held in October with the BAC T.O. Bridgewater rally.
The first RallySprint of the season is coming up on July 24th with a 15km event in Devon, Nova Scotia. Volunteers are needed for this event to continue. The second event in August will be a special ‘Single Road Navigation’ event which will be longer with 4 stages totally 44km and a faster average speed for the stages.
The Baie de Chaleurs national rally was two weeks ago in Quebec. Local competitors Steve Quigley and Dana Nauss competed and finished 13th overall out of 39 cars.
Solo Report
Taylor MacArthur was not able to make last month’s Scotia Speed World event. He thanked Debbie Miller for attending and helping out. It was well attended and received.
The Double Regional Slalom at Digby was well attended with 24 on Saturday and 20 on Sunday. There were some single entrants on each day. The course was quick with good flow and well enjoyed with Saturday being 2.3km and Sunday 2.5km.
This past Sunday’s Time Attack event was attended by 8 competitors which was below the cutoff limit of 10 entrants. Jason arranged an entry fee increase of $40/person to $160 to offset and allow the event to continue. The event lost some money as the break even point is 20 competitors at a $120 entry fee. The low attendance may have been owing to a conflicting lapping session in Ontario. 6 of the 8 competitors at the event were not regular attendees. Chris Uhlman was the fastest car of the day in his 99 Miata.
The next Time Attack is the first weekend of September as a double event. Taylor and Jason are discussing ways to generate interest in this event with a strict cutoff date and pre-registration incentives. A discussion took place regarding posting of points and classing of cars for Sprint/Time Attack events.
There is a Club Slalom event this Sunday in Truro. Both lots will be used. The next Regional event is Slalom at Slemon at the end of the month. The August 7th Digby event may be moved to Truro due to reduced cost and increased attendance.
Some discussion about finding new lots and the state of our current lots took place.
New Business
A Quinpool road car show-cruise is taking place this weekend. A discussion took place regarding joining the cruise with a number of ASCC cars and several people expressed interest. Flyers will be made up for handing out and those interested in joining should get in touch with Debbie Miller.
Swap Shop
Charlotte Partridge sold a number of ASCC TShirts which have been in the trailer for quite some time.
Ian Pearce spoke on behalf of ARRCA about needing bodies for the Parts Canada Superbike races in August. Please contact any ARRCA member if you can help out.
Ian also found a number of ASCC Checkpoint newsletters from the 60s and brought them to show at the meeting.
Meeting adjourned at: 9:36pm.
