Numbers are generally slightly down for 2010 with no national events held.

Final bank balances were not immediately available, and will be updated.
Overall the balances are up $2k at end of year vs start of year.
The ASCC Hosted Pig roast at AMP lost $450 while Solo, including schools and Sprint made $4300 profit. Rally made $260 overall for the season.
The ASCC Hosted AGM lost $450 after all sponsorship was taken into acount.
The new ARMS membership levy system makes payments much easier with the 50% pay upfront and we are current with ARMS at the time of the AGM.
Race Report
Race report provided by ASCC Race Director, Brian Gay.
Another year is over and racing has come to an end for 2010. This was my first year as race director and with the help and guidance from Debbie Miller to show me the way we went full tilt head on into the year of unknowns.
What are these unknowns; to begin with, this was the first year racing was to be organized by ARMS and not by the individual clubs in the Atlantic Region. There was a race committee formed to help steer racing decisions in the right direction and to face the upcoming year of declining numbers in racing. This was not going to be an easy task and being on the committee meant countless hours of conference calls to argue, I mean discuss peoples personal agendas, I mean to collaborate the ideas of the race committee brain trust in hopes that we could made a difference and help road racing to succeed in our region.
What most people don’t realize is how hard the race committee worked continuously throughout the season to: update rules, revisit financials for cost savings, and discuss ways to support the track and the sport we love. What most people see is only on the surface like the entry fee cost increase, medical requirements, insurance regulations. These are items that people seem to latch onto and complain about and don’t realize that your race committee is looking out for your best interest and has already discussed these items to the best of their ability.
Let’s change gears here and talk about what actually happened over the past year: Rules were updated to include Legends Cars, we still have the newby subsidy in place carried over from previous years but added the ‘oldbie’ subsidy, we had 4 people take the race school in May and 2 of them continued to race throughout the season, double race weekends turned out to be successful and for both the racers and ARMS, the second drivers fee was dropped for a weekend to try and attract more cars out wanting to share expenses with second drivers, some people continued to beat their personal best lap times and continue to challenge themselves, a Legends Car took the chequered flag and won a sedan race, and a few old faces along with a few new ones came out to play.
While this season is over and is put behind us we are already looking at next year. I am not going to sit here and say that racing will be twice as good next year as it was this year but there is still a glimmer of hope and enough people in this region to bring road racing back to good numbers and an exciting show both inside the car and out.
I look forward to seeing everyone on the track next year.
Brian Gay,
ASCC Race Director
Rally Report
4 TSD events were planned for 2010, with 3 being held. ASCC hosted the first regional in January with the Musquodobit Madness rally with excellent numbers.
BAC hosted a very successful 3 event RallySprint series going from 2 cars and 5 teams to 5 cars and 11 teams.
Rally in the region shows strong signs of growth with numbers generally steady in TSD, steady in RAllyCross and showing strong growth in RallySprint.
The first event of the 2011 season will again be a TSD rally hosted by ASCC.
Solo Report
ASCC AGM SoloSport Director Report:
With this being my first year as SoloSport Director for ASCC I have to say that from my personal vantage point it was a successful one. I First off have to thank those that helped me through this year. Jason Smith, Brian Gay, and Debbie Miller were all instrumental in making this an easy transition for me having never organized an event before.
The events held this season were; for the most part, well attended and seemed to take place with out much issue. We saw fairly large turnouts at some of the events held at Scotia Speed World and even though it is a “long haul” for the most part we saw a decent turnout at the events held in Digby. We had a few events that had to be canceled due to weather and schedule conflicts but we still managed to hold a good number of events.
I am hoping that we can continue with the same positive outlook for 2011 season that we had at the conclusion of the 2010 season. I am hoping to work on acquiring more lots for our use in the upcoming season. Here’s to another great season and I hope to see you all at the first event.
Yours truly,
Taylor MacArthur
