ASCC Executive Meeting July 6th, 2009 Executive Members present: President: Brian Jarvis Vice President/Membership: Jason Smith Outgoing Vice President: Umberto LoPresti (Absent) Treasurer: Colin Wilmshurst Secretary: Gordon Sleigh Race Director: Debbie Miller Rally Director: Bill Anwyll Solo Director: Jason Smith Member/Directors at Large: George Sheppard (Absent), Bill Anwyll, Umberto LoPresti (Absent) Meeting called to order at 7:25pm Presidents Report Brian discussed the logistics of the AFRA/ASCC co-organized lapping days and how it relates to payment and insurance. Membership Report Approximately 115 members with several more received this evening and extras from the previous events. Treasurer Report $4000 was transferred from the PayPal account to the ASCC bank account. Race Report The July TRAC race has been cancelled by FMC, the organizing club, due to concerns about lack of entries and the potential for losing money. Since that cancellation various discussions have taken place concerning having a make-up race in October, whether in place of or after the Canfield Memorial Enduro. Questions were posed concerning whether the Enduro can take place with the same donations and cost-reductions which took place in 2008. Concerns were expressed around the impact losing a race vs hosting a 'fun' race against having a full rate regional event. Bill is still investigating the possibility of a combined Bike/Car weekend now that ARL is experiencing financial issues similar to the racers. The possibility of having a July combined weekend may offset this traditionally slow month. Rally Report Gordon gave a brief update about the Rallye Baie de Chaleurs which took place several weeks ago. Local competitors Steve Qugley and Dana Nauss finished the event in 16th overall, 5th place Novice in their Open class Subaru STI. The first BAC RallySprint event will take place this Sunday with two cars and 5 drivers. The last Regional Navigational Rally was held on June 20th by BAC in the Bluenose rally. 14 entrants ran with Ian Pearce and Maria Driscoll finished first overall with 0 points. Solo Report The July 1st regional event was held at Scotia Speed World with 24 entrants followed by a double header event in Digby with 24 entrants the first day and 36 the next. For the cancelled race weekend in July Jason has purchased two days of SoloSprint insurance and will hold a club SoloSprint on whichever day shows better weather and hold a lapping day on the alternate. (July 17-18th) The SoloSprint will be held, rain or shine. The last Slalom of the season on the 27th of September will now be held as a regional event due to FMC not having a usable lot. National SoloSprint Report Alan Coles has arranged title sponsorship from Kumho through Talon Tire for the event. They will contribute tire prize packages but no money. The RBC SoloSprint account which was temporarily setup has been closed and the cheques returned. Meeting adjourned at: 8:31pm Todo:
