ASCC General Club Meeting April 12th, 2011, Riverside Pub, Bedford Executive Members present: President: Debbie Miller (Not Present) Vice President/Membership: Jason Smith Treasurer: Brian Jarvis Secretary: Gordon Sleigh Race Director: Brian Gay Rally Director: Gordon Sleigh Solo Director: Taylor MacArthur (Not Present) Member/Directors at Large: George Sheppard Meeting called to order at 7:36pm, 19 Members Present Old Business In unfortunate news, longstanding Atlantic Region Motorsports member Bob Guthrie passed away on March 25th. His loss will be greatly felt throughout the region as Bob was heavily involved in all aspects of competition and organization in the region. ASCC has agreed to donate $100 in memoriam to the charity chosen by Bob's family. Gordon Sleigh mentioned the relaunch of the ASCC.ca website which will be kept up to date with current club events and information replacing the existing site which was created in 2005 and had become quite stale. Presidents Report No formal Presidents report was provided, Membership Report 42 Members on record. Treasurer Report As of end of March $8335.29 in banking, $139.30 in PayPal. Outstanding: Incoming money from the January Navigational rally was submitted by Ian. Race Report Neither Brian Gay or Debbie Miller were present. Jason provided a race report. The Race School will be held the Friday and Saturday of the first Race weekend of the year. Details and costs will be available shortly. The first race weekend of the year will be held May 29th as a single event weekend. Rally Report The April Foolishness club rally will be held on April 30th, organized by Perry Falconer and Sherrie Hennigar. The final RallyCross of the 2010/2011 season will be this Sunday at Scotia Speed World. RallySprint preparation is continuing for events in July, August and October. Solo Report Taylor MacArthur was not present so Jason provided a report. The tentative Solo schedule has been posted online with locations still mostly to be determined except for the final regional event in October at AMP and the Canada Day Slalom at the Digby Airport. Jason has collected costs from the Admiral Digby hotel and they will be made available shortly. A Buffet dinner will be arranged for the Saturday night meal. Friday will be a test and tune with competition days being Saturday and Sunday. Jason is following up with a mall in Digby about possibly arranging an exhibition display to generate local interest. Scotia Speed World dates are still TBD as they are still formalizing their schedule. Taylor MacArthur has been continuing to work on lots in Truro with some strong possibilities at the Truro Power Centre. If this lot is available regularly its possible this may add to our Slalom event count for the season. The ASCC High Performance Driving school will take place May 20th and 21st. Details are posted on the ASCC website and the ARMS Message Forum. Cost for the school is $200 which includes the lapping and/or Solo Sprint License upon completion. The following holiday Monday will be an AFRA organized track day. New Business A new member from New Jersey who just moved to Wolfville was present, he is interested in doing TimeTrials and various track activities. Another new face from PEI who is interested in on track activities was present as well. Last weekend was the Speedsport East car show in Moncton. Taylor MacArthur, Alan Coles, Jason Smith and Gordon Sleigh helped out various MMSC members at the ARMS booth. There was quite a good turnout of interested parties and many programs and referrals were handed out. Ian Pearce mentioned that the AARCA Marshalling Organization AGM will be held May 1st, 12:00 noon at Kartbahn Indoor GoKarting, all are welcome. Brian Jarvis and George Sheppard showed a poster for a 1961 ASCC Rally event which was purchased from a seller on Kijiji who found it behind their wallpaper during a home renovation. Brian contacted the seller and purchased the poster for $20 and had it framed. This is an important piece of club history. A photo of this poster will be added to the club history section of the website. The poster was painted by Bettie-Lou Pugh, wife of competitor Ron Pugh and original founding member of ASCC. Ron's MG is pictured in the poster. Swap Shop Frank McCarthy may be selling his 2000 Cadillac deVille, 95k ams, $7500-7900 Brian Jarvis is selling his race prepared 74 BMW 2002tii and his 2006 Mini Cooper S JCW. Ian Pearce has a 1984 Volvo 240 Turbo Coupe for sale. Jason Smith has a set of 16" 5x4.5" for sale. Bill Anwyll is looking for a front upright for a Pontiac Solstice to use for measurements.
