Chequing $8235.14, PayPal $4180.72, Pending Cheques totalling $736.93, Pending Deposits $2170.00 Pidge was asked whether the region would invoice for membership levies. 50% was paid upfront. Pidge indicated that invoices are not likely forthcoming, the onus is on the club to pay the total amount. The club will start tallying up numbers for the August meeting. Race Report The double header race and lapping was held in June. Lapping made some money and the race made some more. Approximately $1000 over the weekend. There was confusion at the gate as to whether or not drivers and lappets had to pay gate entry fees. Traditionally no gate presence is put forth at lapping sessions. Ian provided a brief report about AARCA's view on the weekend and how their new per-event licensing fee is working out. The flat rate system makes things easier on all parties. Ian thanked the stewards for the hard calls which had to be made during the weekend and how they were conducted. A brief discussion was had about what marshals qualified for event credits. It was agreed that anyone who touched a flag should qualify. The next race is August 22nd. AMP Report Bill provided an AMP report. The Tunnel additions are continuing. Once a Backhoe is found the Corner 1 runoff area will be improved. Due to an incident in corner 5 recently some barrier corrections need to be made and some manpower will be required. Improvements to the Corner 5 runoff is planned to improve barriers, drainage and runoff. MMSC is spearheading this improvement but the budget does not support this at the moment. ARL is still hoping to build a new building at AMP but details are still sketchy. Rally Report BAC Held a club level rally on June 19th which was unfortunately poorly attended due to poor advertising. The next navigational rally will be in October with the BAC Bluenose Rally. The first BAC RallySprint of the year will be held on July 25th, promising to be an exciting event with 11 teams entered. Volunteers are highly desired and ASCC members are encouraged to come out and spectate/help out. Solo Report An emailed report from Taylor MacArthur which was read by Gordon: We have had a couple of slaloms since the last meeting. The both were held in digby, the first being a club event. There were 14 entrants. Everything went smoothly and everyone enjoyed themselves. The last was our regional double in digby. The event was fairly well attended. Everyone had a great time, and we were commended by Wayne Schnare ( event steward ) on running a great event. We did however received a recommendation that we should equip our worker stations with fire extinguishers due to the speeds that could be stained by the faster cars. Thus was a formal written recommendation but not a direct order. All in all so far this year we have seen a positive growth (IMO) in solo events with many new faces and lots of enthusiasm. Here's to this trend continuing for the rest of the season. George indicated that there were no New Brunswick entrants at the regional event, he believes this is due to the perceived excessive speed at the event. He takes issue with the way the events were conducted. Alan Coles indicated that cataloguing in his car was reaching speeds of 130 kilometres an hour which is in excess of the speed guidelines for event organization. The next Digby event is September 19th. The next regional event is MMSCs Slalom at Slemon is July 30-August 1st. ASN National AutoSlaloms are the week after, Ming, Alan and Brian are attending from our region as well as several other New Brunswick competitors. The planned event at the Halifax Waterfront has been nixed. Bill provided an update. He had found a waterfront parking lot which was going to be unused for several months and secured agreements to use the lot for several ASCC Slalom events. Bill arranged specific dates for the use of the lot with the club. A problem has arisen because the lease on the lot is with the Halifax Waterfront Development Corporation which is indicating that he has no license to use the lot for any automotive related activities. The lot owner indicates that he will fight this decision. More details will follow as information arrives. The first event is still planned for July 18th, this Sunday. It was suggested to make the event a 'for charity' event to remove possible avenues of contention. Bill and Alan will investigate this avenue. New Business Ian Pearce put forth a request on behalf of AARCA for experienced marshals for Superbike weekend. Marhsals are always needed for this exciting event. Ian Pearce mentioned that he has been told by some race drivers lapping fees be adjusted for the lapping sessions prior to race days. Lapping fees have increased but racers tend to only use a few laps to break in cars/brakes/etc and don't get the same value from track use as the lappers do. Ian Pearce also indicated drivers have expressed an issue with multiple driver fees at the race weekends, citing it as potentially impeding growth to race fields. Debbie Miller has heard these comments as well. Bill indicated that the 'by the car' pricing has worked well for the Canfield race every year and he believes it would translate well to normal race weekends. This would not preclude drivers from doing all the regular registration tasks like medical and licensing. Frank McCarthy showed off a fabulous pair of Ferrari branded footwear, size 10, which he was selling. Meeting adjourned at: 9:05pm Todo:
