ASCC Club Meeting March 9th, 2010, Riverside Pub, Bedford Executive Members present: President: Debbie Miller Vice President/Membership: Jason Smith Treasurer: Brian Jarvis Secretary: Gordon Sleigh Race Director: Brian Gay (Not Present) Rally Director: TBD Solo Director: Taylor MacArthur Member/Directors at Large: George Sheppard, Bill Anwyll, Umberto LoPresti Meeting called to order at 7:31pm, 20 Members Present Presidents Report No formal presidents report was provided. Membership Report 17 memberships currently, memberships will continue to be taken at the meeting. Treasurer Report $628.xx in Paypal, $8694.98 in Bank account with all dues paid. Race Report The race school will take place May 28th, 29th. A conflict with the test and tune will need to be resolved whether via track sharing or additional sessions. Race calendar is established for the year with a double header in June. AMP Report Bill Anwyll provided a report. An April work party will soon be scheduled. AMP currently has about $10,500 in the bank. Work on the turn 1 Tunnel is progressing. It has been lengthened and runoff increased. Armco and barriers need to be extended, until that point the current barriers will be retained until that work takes place. No chip wagon arrangement has been formally made for 2010 as of yet. The existing catering service has declined to service for 2010. Rally Report Brian Jarvis brought up the topic of club reimbursement for rally organizers. Brian suggested a $1/km to a maximum of $300. Ian had concerns regarding this as having potential for misrepresentation. He prefers the idea of using direct compensation for expenses like dash plaques and printing. A discussion took place around this subject and Brian and Ian conferred to come up with a compensation figure for this seasons Musquodobit Madness rally. Gordon provided a rally update as far as the status of RallyCross, Rally Sprint and Navigational rally as well as a brief update on the just past WRC Rally Mexico. Solo Report The Solo calendar is almost finalized with 7 events scheduled this year. Locations are TBD as agreements are still being worked out. A double header weekend July 3rd and 4th in Digby. There will be four SoloSprint events for 2010 with one double weekend. Discussions are being had with MMSC to handle organizing of at least one SoloSprint event. May 24th will be the ASCC High Performance Driving School. ASCC will put in a proposal to host the SoloSprint Nationals again in 2010 if no other ASN Club steps forward. Various financial understandings with ASN will be required for this to happen. Dave Hull provided an update from the ASN perspective indicating that the only other club pending has not provided solid information on their interest. ASN has been working on some larger sponsorships for the nationals which may help to offset costs. The Vancouver club has until the end of March to make the determination. A discussion took place regarding the costs involved around the event with or without the ASN cost deferrals. The National Slalom event will be held in August in St Eustache, Quebec. The Evo school is taking place in May, 11 of 12 spots are spoken for. Contact Scott McIntyre for details. George brought up a discussion concerning the eligibility of M and SA 2000 Snell helmets per the wording of the rule. Dave Hull provided clarification of the rules as per the ASN and ARMS understanding. Old Business Pidge was prompted for any information regarding regiona licensing but had nothing of not to provide. Applications will be sent out by mail shortly. Dave Hull was prompted for news as the ARMS regional president, he indicated that the ASN Board conference call is coming at the end of March and, with it, more information will be provided. ASN money for 2009 is still forthcoming, it is currently unknown whether this figure will be lessened by the lack of a Candian GP Race in 2009. New Business Ian as the VP of AARCA expressed their organizations concern about the use of AARCA resources separate from their involvement recently such as lost equipment and fuel used in the Marshal's trailer. A proposal will be brought at the AARCA AGM to raise a nominal fee for events where AARCA's equipment is used outside of a regularly organized, marshalled event. This will be formally promoted to the clubs after the AGM. A suggestion of $50 per weekend or even $50 per day was made. Jason has rounded up logos for a number of local bodies (ASN, ARMS, ASCC and TRAC) and is looking to have embroidered patches made. He is looking for suggestions of embroidery providers. Taylor MacArthur announced that he is now engaged and going to be a father. The club gives Taylor and his Fiancee their congratulations. Jason Smith will be attending the SpeedSport event in Moncton with his Formula car. He will represent ASCC with promotional information and the club will compensate him for travel expenses.
