ASCC General Meeting August 14th, 2007 14 members in attendance Bill Anwyll - President Umberto LoPresti - Vice President/Membership Ian Pearce - Rally Gordon Sleigh - Website/Acting Secretary == Membership (Umberto) 116+3 Memberships + 7 Founding members, about 134 total. == Treasurer (Bill) In absentia Bill reports that 'We have lots of money'. Just over $12,000 by estimates. == Rally (Ian) The night rally of August 18th in Bridgewater has been postponed due to dissatisfactoin with the route. The new date is October 13th which moves the October regional to October 27th. (Both events will be regional level rallies) Current CARS stadings are Antione Lestage, ACP and Martin Gauvin. WRC Grunholm/Loeb/Hirvonen Rally sprint season may start a little later to provide more of a break between diciplines. Details will be provided. == Race (Bill) The FMC race school is the upcoming race weekend and is looking promising for entries. The decision go-no go decision will take place this week. The first weekend of September is a blank on the calendar which Bill is considering making a Super lapping day. Volounteers are required to marshal and organize. This even will be both bikes and cars. (If the event takes place) Bill would like to thank those who showed up for the AMP work party on July 31st. Everyone enjoyed themselves and positive comments were expressed by the bikers on site as well. Bruce Hartlin expressed his thanks onthe AMCRA website as well. == Superbike report (Ian) "Woohoo!" ATVs and personal vehicles were banned from the infield and paddock areas with the threat of confiscation which seemed to have beneficial effects at taming some of the mayhem. The event was 'tamer' this year to an extent due mostly to this rule. Gate numbers haven't been made available but a guess would be at least 5000 bodies. The usual marshal issues of crowd control were experiences. No major injuries took place. Improvements to runoff and track facilities seemed to have positive effects on incidents which took place. At last report the AMP SUperbike race draws more than 1.5X the spectators of any other Superbike race in Canada. A senior ASN official was present at AMP this weekend and made positive comments about the improvements to the track with the exception of a few people present in the paddock who had not signed waivers. He also clarified that spectators not entering the paddock/pit areas do not need to sign the waiver. == Slalom (George) Slemon took place last weekend with 57 drivers. The Test and Tune took place on a great day. Saturday Heats 1 and 2 ran in reasonably good weather but as Heat 3 started a large rain and lightning storm swept in postponing the Heat until Sunday which luckily had much more favorable weather. The Saturday dinner was provided by the Lions club and entertainment was shown ('Cars' for the kids). Unfortunately a lot of cars suffered mechanical problems with two engine retirements, three suspensions and various other failures. Sunday had a great battle of E36 M3's with three BMWs being driven by 6 drivers. The weekend previous a Solo Sprint and AutoSlalom took place at AMP. Robert Fullerton was FTD for the Sprint and Mike Benjamin on Saturday.
